Firstly, why do we play video games? Video games as every other thing performs a function
in one way or the other , it serves as a source of entertainment majorly ,it’s
something you do when you’re bored or you probably have nothing to do . And
movies on the other hand also serves as another source of entertainment too .we
have different sorts of movies today like the romantic movies , thrillers
, cartoons , comedy, action, etc.
.but the major thing is that each of
these movies pass different messages and in most cases most movies rather pass
negative messages to the under aged child , most children of today are exposed
to movie scenes which in most cases affects or changes the mind set of that
child.
Recently in the united states there was a case where a young
boy jumped out of his window thinking
that he was superman ,now the boy must have watched a movie where superman
jumped from a skyscraper or performed one of those super moves ,these ought to have given him the
courage that if he should jump out his own window ,he also would perform a
super move before reaching the ground ,unknown to him that the law of gravity
will definitely have its way and the powerful superman doesn’t exist….. If the parents
were more cautious about what their child was watching, they wouldn’t
have had to suffer such an unfortunate loss . That’s the problem most people
have today you see a parent trying to get lots of stuffs that
aren’t really essential for the growth of a child, they always try to get what
the child doesn’t really need .most parents buy adult games for their under aged
children allow these children to watch what they want at any time ,by doing
this the parent gives the child the freedom to watch what he likes without any
form of supervision or caution so tell me why a child won’t go and fly out of a
window when his/her head is full of super moves made by super man and spider
man and when they have also played games where someone robs a store and gets
into a getaway car and drives off so fast that even the cops
won’t be able to catch up with him.so these are the sought of things the
child sees and want to have a taste of .
Secondly most children spend more time in front of the
television than they spend doing any other thing and 98% of these children are
watching either adulterated movies or something else and the remaining 2% are trying to learn
something from an educative program or something ….now using this statistics you
will notice that action games and movies actually have more of their products
sold out than any educative program or game and these adulterated action games
and movies are actually sold to people who end up giving these games to under
aged children ,and who are these people buying them ? Its nobody but the
“GUARDIAN OR PARENT “ of that child just because his child told him that his
mates are actually playing the game so the parent will try to make it up to the
child so that he will feel among to ,not knowing that instead of helping that
child he’s actually opening a window for that child to ask for anything without
limits .Now after giving the child the opportunity he wants, what happens when he asks for
something you can’t give ?...... The child will be forced to get it somewhere
else because you have always made him feel among so he finds it hard not to
feel among at that time and then he is left with his own alternative because he hasn’t had any
moral discipline since the day he was born you’d rather allow him to have what
he wants at any time and see movies of
people doing their own will without the parent’s consent so he does the same
thing and in most cases ends up in trouble .
Finally , I believe that if we try to engage these children in more outdoor games like cleaning ,outdoor sports ,educative programs ,puzzles ,scrabble , ludo and all those positive local things you as a parent did for fun when you were young ,you will notice that the streak events not necessary in the gradual development of the child’s mind set will go away……..
