Kaduna District Head Ambushed And Killed By Terrorists

The district head of Zangang in Attakad chiefdom area of Kaura local government of Kaduna State, Mr Yohanna Daniel Shinkut, was on Friday night attacked and killed by terrorists. This was disclosed to Leadership by the district head of Fadan Attakad of the same chiefdom, Mr. Silas B. Kanwai.
According to him, the traditional ruler was ambushed on his way to the palace.
The district head was on his way home in his car when the attackers ambushed him, shot his tyre first, then shot at the tank and when the car stopped moving, they then moved closer to him and shot him on the chest at close range. The gunmen also exchanged gunfire with the policemen who had gone to convey the remains of the late district head,” Silas said.
Also speaking on the attack, Emmanuel Samuel, a resident who linked the killing of the traditional ruler to Fulani herdsmen said: “The incident happened around 8:00pm Friday, when the attackers fired at his car. The car got damaged and they went at close range and shot him on the chest.”
Confirming the incident, one of the daughters of the late district head said it’s true he was shot dead.
A community leader, Enock Zangang described the incident as unfortunate, saying, “What is happening here since April 2013 is a war and total attempt to wipe out our people. This is worrisome. People are being killed, without help. More than 600 people have been killed just from this chiefdom. Something needs to be done quickly.”
He added that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the rural community hospital in Manchok.
The Kaduna State government and the police authorities are yet to comment on the killing as at the time of fielding this report.
Last week, gunmen reportedly killed a mother of two children and injured scores of people in Angwan Dauda community in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
