VIOLENCE IN LAGOS: Bank Robbed, Four Dead, Others Injured

Last Tuesday's armed robbery attack on Skye Bank branch, which serves as a cash point, at Alaba Market, Lagos State resulted in four deaths. An unidentified soldier is among those killed.
The deadly incident occured at the very moment of money transfer from the cash point to another major branch in the area.
According to eyewitnesses' accounts, the money was packed in a Ghana-must-go bag. An employee of the bank carried the bag on his head, accompanied by the soldier. Then, the masked attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, attacked.
They shot and killed the soldier and the bank employee, both of whom died on the spot. As the robbers grabbed the bag with the undisclosed amount of money, they fired more shots, and stray bullets hit two more persons.
One of them, the recharge card seller, was hit when she ran to her hiding place after collecting her cards. She allegedly died on her way to the hospital.
The other person, a yet-to-be identified man, died on the spot.
Several more persons sustained injuries.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, made no comments, while the Skye bank's spokesperson was unavailable to make any statement on the tragic development.
