FLAWS OF THE NIGERIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
Education they say is the key to a bright future, without
education the world will have little or less to offer unto you as a person, but
If you look at the Nigerian economy you will be able to understand that the
country has a lot of people not willing to go schools, they would rather stay
at home doing nothing or go out and become thugs while the sensible ones go out
and learn a trade or get a small job to keep them occupied. As people will say
“AN IDLE MIND IS THE DEVILS WORKSHOP “ .Today we notice that most of these
young people have actually tried getting into school at one time of their lives
but due to one reason or the other something hindered such movements. The
Nigerian economy has a lot to offer
today but due to corrupt and poor leadership as well as
inadequate management in the federal government ,the people get to suffer a lot
of things which are not supposed to be, although the Nigerians have their own
flaws but the government on its own part has failed in so many areas ..
- The Nigerian economy has suffered a lot of Setbacks in many ways. Now as a student you will notice that the school itself is always having one problem or the other ,you will always hear of strikes .last year the ASSU strike kept students home for more than 4 months ,if you are to do a proper calculation you will notice that the strike actually prevented the final year students from graduating and it also prevented lots of people from getting into the higher institutions in Nigeria ,now where has it been heard of that a country will go such a strike for how many months if not in Nigeria .But by God’s grace we overcame the strike and got back to school .
- 2. Under the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration, more funds were allocated for security reasons e.g. N4.4 TRILLION for security ….in 2010 - N826.3BILLION , 2011-N920.3BILLION, 2012 -N864.8 BILLION, 2013 –N923.5BILLION ,AND IN 2014 –N920.9 BILLION YET MORE THAN 13,000 LIVES LOST ,3 MILLION DISPLACED AND HUNDREDS IN CAPTIVITY INCLUDING THE 200 CHIBOK GIRLS. But today as a person I always try to be vigilant everywhere I go because nothing has really changed even after the allocation of TRILLIONS. of naira for security purposes now as a student how can you be sure that you will come out of the lecture hall without being shot or being a victim of a bomb blast? in fact the bomb blast and death toll issue has become so rampant in the country to the extent that it doesn’t shock anybody again to hear that there was a bomb blast and these are the people that died it just comes and passes as news but it definitely doesn’t surprise anybody these days ,now on the 26/02/2015 there was another bomb blast in jos at Bauchi park along Bauchi road and that’s where university of jos main campus is and you expect students to still go back to that school with full peace of mind that nothing will happen to them, I doubt it myself. So if we can’t go to school to achieve this education without fear then how can we guarantee a bright future for ourselves or for even the generation to come ?
- 3.finally the school on its own is another major thing .schools have a way of coming up with different costs which parents and guardians as well as independent students have to pay and at the end of the day you notice that little or nothing is even done to improve the standard of the school ,so if you keep paying for services you don’t enjoy a day will come that you will ask yourself ,” where all this money dey go now ? and when you ask for full details of where the money is going to you get stories in return and at the end it will all end up in protests which in most cases results in the closing down of the school for some time and some other unfavourable events so if these streak of events keep on happening we all will soon be caught in a big vicious circle where it will be survival of the fittest ………
