AVERTED: Army Prevents Bloodbath In Yobe Church

DAMATURU, YOBE STATE -- On Saturday, Nigerian Army officers averted a what could have been a devastating attack on a New Generation Church in the Jerusalem Area of Damaturu.
Special Forces from Division '3' of the Nigerian Army apprehended the suspect when he was driving towards the church "straight from the bush." An AK 47 assault rifle, and three improvised explosive devices were recovered in the process of searching the vehicle, a Honda car.
According to the Army source, a man ran into the army barricade; he was intending to attack the city area where there are many churches.
Also, three suspected members of the Boko Haram sect engaged in a shootout with JTF officers near Jango in Damaturu on Saturday evening. They were subsequently arrested near a brothel.
As the situation escalated, the residents and prostitutes' clients fled the area.
The spokesman for the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army Special Operation Battalion is yet to confirm the incidents.
