OAU introduces E-Learning Program where you can Earn your BSc, MSc degrees at home

Nigerian students can now pursue fully-online Bachelors and Master’s Degree programs through Obafemi Awolowo University’s Centre for Distance Learning (CDL).

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife has created another opportunity for students to pursue full university degrees with its fully-online Bachelors and Master’s Degree programs.

Organised through its Centre for Distance Learning (CDL), the university says the programs were created as part of its commitment to 'serve' and meet the 'needs'.

"Admission into distance learning programme is guided by the commitment to serve and meet the needs of people within the framework of the university’s general regulations governing admission and the nation’s policy for higher education," OAU announced on the CDL page » .

Prospective students must however pass through a rigorous selection process and must have sound academic background.

"To be eligible for admission into undergraduate programmes, the applicant must meet the subject, scholarship and examination requirement depending on the proposed degree or an acceptable equivalent from an accredited university is required," the announcement further read.

"A comparable degree from a recognized foreign institution is also acceptable. The university requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.”

Despite the stiff entry requirements, the program has a lot of advantages, especially for the working class.

Students enrolled under the CDL E-Learning program will be able to learn towards their various degrees from their respective locations, without having to attend physical classes.

Each student will be equipped with a VigiTab, internet enabled study tablets that are preloaded with text-based and multi-media lecture materials with offline access.

What this means is that students will study at their own pace, at their own location and at their own time, with the ability to rewind, pause lectures as they deem fit.

The first sets of students were matriculated recently and the prospect is high.

Only Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting are on offer, but the institution promises a much broader set of programmes which include the following courses:

Another good news for prospective students is that payable fees are low compared to available alternatives, with the highest being N282,250.

Students can also pay their fees in as many as 3 instalments.
