APC sues two radio stations in benue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made public its decision to sue two radio stations in Benue state for libel.

According to the P.M. News, the statement was made on January, 15, 2015, Thursday.

The party’s Organizing Secretary, Tutus Zaam, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi that he would drag Radio Benue and Ashi Waves to court as soon as judiciary workers’ strike ends.

It should be noted that Radio Benue is owned by the state government. Ashi Waves, based in Katsina-Ala, is owned by Terkula Suswam, the elder brother of Governor Gabriel Suswam.

The organising secretary accused the two stations of “broadcasting libelous information about the party and its candidates on the forthcoming elections in the state.”

According to him, the APC has already contacted its lawyers. They will prepare the necessary documents for court proceeding after the nationwide strike comes to an end.

Finishing the statement, Zaam called on APC supporters in the state to ignore all news from the stations about the party as they might be deceitful.

It would be reminded that Lagos Governor, Babatunde Fashola, in his turn, asked the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), to call off its nationwide strike. Addressing the judicial workers, he said:

“The only way you can change a government that you do not like legally is by the ballot box.”
