72-year-old ex-Bauchi Accountant-General killed by abductors

The former Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Alhaji Bappa Tilde, who was abducted last week Saturday has been killed by his abductors.

Alhaji Tilde was abducted last Saturday at Nuru Quarters in Bauchi while returning home from the mosque where he observe his night prayers.

The death of Alhaji Tilde was confirmed to newsmen by security and family sources on Thursday, in Bauchi.

According to Nigerian Tribune, a top security source described the death of the one-time accountant-general as an assassination, saying the abductors did not demand for any ransom since he was abducted last weekend.

However, a family source said the abductors demanded for ransom, with a view to freeing the late Tilde, adding that the family was in the process of negotiating with the abductors when he was killed.
He refused to reveal how much was demanded by his abductors.

Some residents of Bauchi told journalists on Thursday, that the abductors brought the deceased close to Eid praying ground in Bauchi on a motorcycle and shot him three times on his head, left his corpse and fled.

As at time of filing this report, the incident is yet to be confirmed by security agencies

Meanwhile, the late Tilde was buried on Thursday morning, following funeral prayers which held at the palace of Emir of Bauchi.

The prayers was led by the Chief Imam of Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Babainna Ahmed.

The deceased, according to the North-East zonal publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sani Al’amin Mohammed, was survived by three wives, 27 children and over 100 grandchildren.
