An unidentified male body was found on the rail track early on Tuesday in Lagos around Powerline Bus Stop, Agbado crossing.
The middle-aged man, who lay face down, was believed to have been run over by the 4 a.m. train.
Efforts
to make contact with those whose telephone numbers appeared on a piece
of paper in the dead man’s wallet yielded no result.
A
male voice that answered one of the calls said he did not know anyone
around the area where the accident occurred and that a body was
dismembered.
Some persons who were at the scene said they found the body with other personal items scattered around the track at about 6 a.m.
Mr Ayo Babatunde, a passerby said: "I was about to cross the track to the other side when I noticed a human head.
The deceased must have been hit by the early morning train or have been sitting on top of the train."
Another
person, who identified himself as Femi, said the position of the body
and his apparel suggested the deceased was backing the train.
"From
what I can see, I think the young man was backing the train and
probably did not hear the coming train and since the weather was foggy,
he could not have seen the front lights."
No identification card was found on the corps but a passport photograph was seen along with the other items.
