Super typhoon Yolanda kills three, injures seven

Three people have died while seven were injured due to super typhoon Yolanda, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Friday afternoon.
 
A total of 145,641 families were affected by the typhoon, NDRRMC said.

Weather Watch, the Philippine Information Agency's Facebook page for weather-related news, said that based on information from PIA Region 6, one of the casualties from the typhoon is 56-year-old Randy Cejar from Calinog town.  
 
The information was reportedly confirmed by Mayor Alex Centina over a local radio station.
 
In Surigao del Norte, meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) reported that a total of 8,821 families or 28,807 individuals are now housed in different evacuation centers in the province. No casualties have been recorded as of 3 p.m. 
 
Captain Albert Caber, spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) said Siargao Island is currently experiencing a total power outage and five houses in the province have been totally damaged. Roads and bridges from the town of Alegria to Surigao City, however, remain passable.
 
Cellular service continues to be on degraded status in Samar and Leyte, according to the NDRRMC
