Olowose
Razak, 32, has been remanded in prison by an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s
Court, Lagos State, for the alleged murder of one Ejimofor Clifford.
According
to the police Razak was said to have killed the deceased Ejimofor by
hitting him with a plank on the head after a disagreement led to a fight
between the duo.
The
incident was said to have happened in the Ojota area of the state.
Although the defendant confessed to committing the crime and an exhibit
recovered from him, the police said they are still investigating the
case.
The murder charge read, “That
you, Olowose Rasak, on October 12, 2013 at Victoria Street, Ojota,
Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one
Ejimofor Clifford, aged 58 years, by hitting him with plank on his head
and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
The
police prosecutor, Iyobosa Onaiwu, applied for the remand of Razak in
line with Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice, Lagos
State, 2011, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public
Prosecution.
The magistrate, Mr. F.J Adefioye, granted the request, and remanded the defendant in the Ikoyi prison.
